Join the Kimball Smith Series for a hybrid moderated panel followed by small group discussions over lunch regarding the science, economics, and politics of international scientific collaboration.

The panel will feature experts Dr. Pietro Barabaschi, (Director-General of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER)), and Professor Sarah Demers (Yale Professor of Physics, Department Chair, and CERN collaborator). The event will explore the opportunities and challenges associated with international scientific collaboration, including cost-sharing, talent acquisition, and intellectual property, with an eye for how international technical cooperation is rapidly changing due to great power competition and national security concerns.

Program partners: Department of Physics, Wright Laboratory, Department of Political Science, Yale SOM Energy Club, YSE Energy SIG.
