Join us on Friday, January 30th, 2026 at 10 AM in HQ L01 for a moderated panel followed by small group discussions about Surveillance in the Age of AI. The panel will feature experts Steve Feldstein (Carnegie Endowment for International Peace) and Prof. Yuan Hong (University of Connecticut). There will also be a lunch with speakers at noon (sign up here).

Attendees will explore the intersection of AI, big tech, and government, focusing on the application of AI in government surveillance, the role of major technology companies, and the resulting privacy and ethical concerns. The discussion will also cover the challenge of AI alignment and the broader political implications of its use on a global stage.

Yale community members of all disciplines and levels of expertise are encouraged to attend. This event will adhere to the Chatham House Rule.

Speaker Bios:

Steven Feldstein is a Senior Fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and has written several books on emerging technology and governance including “The Rise of Digital Repression” (2021). He received his JD from Berkeley School of Law and his AB from Princeton University. 

Yuan Hong is a Collins Aerospace Endowed Associate Professor in the School of Computing at University of Connecticut and his research on security, privacy, and machine learning has been published in top journals including IEEE, ACM, and more. He received his PhD from Rutgers University.
